This lovely two-storey home was built in 1949. The most recent renovation was completed by Exhibition Builders, with design elements by homeowner Julie, principal designer and owner of Finishing Touches Design.

With hickory floors and a wood burning fireplace, John and Julie have created a classy cottage vibe with a real sense of warmth in their home.

Walking into the home, you can go either into the dining room or into the living room. The dining room has a massive table which lends itself to the feeling of warmth and welcoming.

This kitchen is spectacular and was the latest renovation, increasing the footprint of the home and boasting a massive quartz island, positioning itself well as the “heart of the home.” John is a former chef and enjoys the fine art of meal preparation. It is easy to imagine people gathering around this space to watch him prepare meals.

A two-piece powder room was added as part of the main floor expansion. The living room with its wood-burning fireplace is one of the many things that drew John and Julie to this home. A hand-hewn mantle adds country flavour to this room and large windows in all of the rooms allow plenty of light in, making the space feel large and open.

The second storey has a primary bedroom suite and a family bath with a center hall plan. The home also has a fully finished basement that includes a family room, powder room and laundry area.

The home has a spectacular surround sound music system integrated throughout, allowing you to listen to different types of music on each level of the home.

John and Julie’s favourite Christmas songs are “White Christmas” for John and “Christmas Time is Here” by Vince Guaraldi, from A Charlie Brown Christmas, for Julie.

Their family has made many happy memories at this home; taking in Sparkles in the Park at Christmas and cutting their own trees at one of the local farms are all part of the happy times here.

When asked why they decided to take part in the Christmas Joy Home Tour, they both felt strongly about wanting to help HOPE House by raising funds to support their programs. They are also starting to look at volunteer options as they head towards retirement.
